Two films top the Oscars shortlist



The nominations for the 80th Academy Awards have been announced, with 'No Land for Old Men' and 'There Volition Be Blood' leadership the short list with eight-spot nominations each.
'Atonement', 'Juno' and 'Michael Clayton' have besides received numerous nominations.
As expected Wicklow occupant Daniel Day-Lewis has been nominated for a Best Player Academy Award for his operation in 'There Will Be Blood'.
The other nominees for Best Worker ar: George IV Clooney ('Michael Clayton'), Johnny Depp ('Sweeney Todd'), Tommy Lee Mother Jones ('In the Vale of Elah') and Viggo Mortensen ('Eastern Promises').
The Best Actress short list is: Cate Blanchett ('Elizabeth: The Golden Age'), Julie Agatha Christie ('Away from Her'), Marion Cotillard ('La Vie en Rose'), Laura Linney ('The Savages') and Ellen Page ('Juno').
The nominees for Best Support Actor ar: Casey Affleck ('The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford'), Javier Bardem ('No Country for Old Men'), Duke of Edinburgh Jane Seymour Hoffman ('Charlie Wilson's War'), Hal Holbrook ('Into the Wild') and Tom Wilkinson ('Michael Clayton').
Along with Irish Gaelic adolescent Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett ('I'm Non There'), Ruby Dee ('American Gangster'), Amy Ryan ('Gone Baby Gone') and Tilda Swinton ('Michael Clayton') have been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress class.
Shortlisted for Best Music director are: Julian Schnabel ('The Diving event Bell and the Butterfly'), Jason Reitman ('Juno'), Tony Gilroy ('Michael Clayton'), Joel and Ethan Coen ('No Land for Old Men') and Alice Paul Seth Thomas Marian Anderson ('There Will Be Blood').
The films nominated for C. H. Best Image ar: 'Atonement', 'Michael Clayton', 'No Country for Old Men', 'There Will Be Blood' and 'Juno'.
The five films nominated for Best Foreign Plastic film ar: 'The Counterfeiters' (Oesterreich), 'Beaufort' (Israel), 'Katyn' (Polska), 'Mongol' (Kazakhstan) and '12' (Russia).
The nominees for Charles Herbert Best Docudrama Feature of speech are: 'No End in Sight', 'Operation Return: Writing the Wartime Experience', 'Sicko', 'Taxi to the Shadow Side' and 'War/Dance'. 
The nominees for Best Animated Celluloid are: 'Persepolis', 'Ratatouille' and 'Surf's Up'.
The nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay are: St. Christopher Hampton ('Atonement'), Sarah Polley ('Away from Her'), Ronald Harwood ('The Diving Toll and the Butterfly'), Book of Joel and Ethan Coen ('No Land for Old Men') and Alice Paul Doubting Thomas Anderson ('There Will Be Blood').
The nominees for Topper Master copy Screenplay are: Diablo Buffalo Bill ('Juno'), Nancy Oliver ('Lars and the Real number Girl'), Tony Gilroy ('Michael Clayton'), January Pinkava, Jim Capobianco and Brad Bird ('Ratatouille') and Tamara Jenkins ('The Savages').
